Every once in a while, you have this internal feeling, joy, tingles from head to toe. It's when you see the fruits of your labors. It is a mother's payday. After two years of piano lessons, your child voluntarily sits down at the piano and practices without being told and does it because he wants too, or is simply enjoying it!! Or when you spend seven years of potty training and finally your child does it on his own virtually overnight, then you just feel like all that exhaustion and effort on your part was WELL WORTH IT. Somehow, it is enough pay, to keep you persevering. And to make yet another goal, or battle to win! On one of my favorite shows, one of my favorite characters, he stated, when asked what did that women know about being a soldier, "she is a mother, that is as close to a soldier you can get" or something like that. So true! We fight our own battles, suffer loses, trudge on, and we keep fighting, till the battle is won!!! I think God is merciful, kind, and just to us mothers because he occasionally let us see our accomplishments. It pulls at our heart strings and we cry for joy when the battle is over.....

I love your analogy. As a mother, sometimes I feel as forgotten and unappreciated as a soldier who is far from home. It is wonderful to be reminded that our work is for a noble and sacred cause. Just like the weary soldier, we must perservere, even if those "paydays" seem to be few and far between. But either way, I am so grateful for my friends and comrades!
